United Voices Echoing for Peace, Diplomacy and a Brighter Future – An Inter-School MUN Conference

With 5 committees, 140 delegates, and 77 countries represented, MUNKY 2025 was truly a success!

Over the weekend of January 25-26th, The English School of Kyrenia came alive with the vibrant energy of the Model United Nations Kyrenia Conference once again! Schools from across the island came together for a bi-communal UN simulation, bridging the gap between the North and South of Cyprus and fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
It was a dynamic two-day event. Students from Year 10 to 13 stepped into the shoes of delegates from various nations, diligently working to tackle real-world problems through the lens of their assigned countries’ viewpoints. All committees and the organisation were led by dedicated Year 12 and 13 students.

As voices exchanged opinions, ideas ignited, resolutions were drafted, and collaborative spirit flourished.

The overall sentiment among participants was overwhelmingly positive; many expressed hopes of returning to MUNKY 2026. The greater takeaway for everyone involved was the realization that, united in purpose and ambition, they can indeed drive change and contribute to a more harmonious and interconnected world.
Mr Ben Rawlings, Deputy British High Commissioner to Cyprus, delivered an inspiring address at the closing ceremony. He spoke about the importance of diplomacy and encouraged our youth to seize this moment as a foundation for discovering their voices, to help shape the future of Cyprus and preparing for the any challenge that lies ahead.

With their enthusiasm, creativity, and fresh perspectives, these young students are indeed laying the groundwork for tomorrow’s leaders and MUNKY 2025 was just the beginning of an inspiring journey towards a brighter future.
