The International School of Schaffhausen (ISSH) will introduce a dynamic new subject: “Careers” in August 2024. Designed exclusively for students in Grades 9 and 10, this comprehensive program equips our learners with essential skills, self-awareness, and practical knowledge to thrive in their future professional journeys. At ISSH, we believe in practical learning experiences. In September, our students will participate in the Berufsmesse (career fair)—a local event where they can explore various professions, interact with industry experts, and gain valuable insights into different career paths. This hands-on approach bridges classroom learning with real-world opportunities, empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures. In November, ISSH students take part in the Europe-wide Future Day, where students explore apprenticeships and vocational training. Understanding oneself is a critical foundation for success. ISSH encourages students to reflect on their strengths, interests, and unique qualities. Through workshops and personalized guidance, students align these self-discoveries with potential career paths, ensuring a purposeful journey ahead. ISSH students will be introduced to job strategies such as reputable search engines to explore job opportunities in Switzerland. These platforms provide comprehensive listings across various industries, allowing students to filter based on their preferences. Whether it’s an internship, part-time job, or full-time position, students can find exciting prospects. A well-crafted CV and a compelling motivational letter can open doors to exciting job prospects. ISSH conducts workshops where students learn how to highlight their skills, experiences, and achievements effectively and present themselves confidently to potential employers. Our teachers prepare students for real-world interviews by simulating scenarios. Through practice, students learn how to answer common interview questions, and effective communication techniques that build confidence and self-awareness.ISSH recognizes the importance of parental involvement. Our workshop fairs provide parents with insights into their child’s education. Guest speakers share their experiences, inspiring students to envision their own unique paths empower students to make informed financial decisions as they transition to adulthood.
“Exploring Careers” at ISSH is more than a subject—it’s a compass guiding our students toward fulfilling futures. We look forward to witnessing their growth and success.
