At the British School of Córdoba, academic excellence is a core part of who we are. This was recently demonstrated by our students’ outstanding performance in the prestigious Thales Mathematics Olympiad.
José Luis and Jorge Aguilera, alongside fellow Lower Secondary students, successfully advanced through the provincial round and will now represent the school at the regional stage in Granada.
What makes this achievement particularly impressive is the bilingual context in which it took place. At our school, Mathematics is taught entirely in English from the early years as part of our international curriculum. However, the Thales Olympiad is conducted exclusively in Spanish. Competing against students who study the subject in their native language, our students showed not only mathematical talent but also the ability to think and perform across languages.
Their success reflects the strength of our academic programme, our commitment to bilingual education, and the guidance of our dedicated teaching staff. At the British School of Córdoba, we believe education should develop more than just subject knowledge — it should foster adaptability, critical thinking, and global awareness.
Achievements like these demonstrate the value of a British international education in Spain. For families seeking a school that combines strong academic foundations with an international outlook, the British School of Córdoba stands out as a place where students truly thrive.
We are proud of our students and wish them every success in the upcoming regional round.
