With lockdown lifting, restrictions easing, and the world starting to open up once again, many children are now returning back to school. We spoke to some teachers at Rugby School Thailand and asked what it is like to have children back in class…
“It is wonderful to have the school feeling so alive! You can’t beat the feeling of being together. Life in a school comes from the children in it”.
Miss Hannah, Assistant Head (Pre-Prep)
“Bizarre, and yet as the poet, Horace said, ‘Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant’”.
Mr Mayall, English Teacher & House Dean (Senior)
“There is a positive energy floating amongst the students in the classroom; the vibe just shows how much of a giant family we all are at Rugby School Thailand”.
Miss Arnold, Science Teacher (Prep)
“I can tell that we all have big grins under our face-masks because everyone’s eyes are smiling”
Miss Margo, Class Teacher (Pre-Prep)
“Effective learning occurs in the dynamic interaction between the teacher and pupil and while that can be replicated to an extent online, nothing compares to that interaction taking place in person, supported by all the resources of the school and the classroom”.
Mr Simpson, Politics Teacher (Senior)
“It’s wonderful! They are so happy to be here and it’s a relief to see they’re okay”.
Mrs Barnes, Head of Art (Prep)
“It’s great to hear their chat and laughter (even if muffled by masks), sad not to see their smiles!”
Mr Dawson, Deputy Head, Pastoral (Prep)
“It is great having the Nursery children back and feels as if they have never been away! I was surprised by their understanding and adaptability around the Covid-19 protocols, like sitting separately, washing hands more often, wearing masks and working in pairs”.
Miss Wendy, Nursery Teacher (Pre-Prep)
