F1 in Schools is Formula 1’s official competition where 100,000 students from 26,000 schools in 50 countries take part. Team Velotech, composed of Juan, Julia, Ingrid, Luca, Yago, and Daniel is the first team to ever participate in the competition in Madrid and they are from The Global College. The competition challenges students to design, build and test a miniature F1 car introducing them to STEM subjects in a fun and engaging way. The fastest car – wins!
The competition focuses on building the fastest Formula 1 car of the future, by incorporating knowledge about science, technology, engineering, and math, as well as entrepreneurship and project management skills. Teams must find their sponsors to fund research and travel, making this a project where they learn about physics, aerodynamics, branding, leadership, and financial strategy.
The process begins with designing a model using 3D CAD software, following the international specifications set for F1 cars, analyzing its aerodynamics, making it with their chosen materials and methods, and testing the car and racing it to test the time it takes to complete the track.
The team is representing The Global College’s values of entrepreneurship and innovation. Congratulations!
