At Leysin American School, the best way to appreciate our stunning alpine location is by participating in our ski program. The local Leysin ski slopes are just down the road from our campus, which means in perfect snowy conditions, you can ski out our front doors and down the street to the ski lifts! With over 60 kilometers of pistes to discover, students have the perfect playground to learn how to ski or snowboard right in their own backyard.
Skiing is built into the fabric of LAS’s winter schedule. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from January to March, students participate in an afternoon ski program where they are matched with a ski instructor who caters their lessons to their level. Students also ski and snowboard on the weekends with school trips to some amazing resorts including Zermatt, St. Moritz, Verbier, and Crans-Montana.
Students who are particularly passionate about mountain sports can participate competitively in either our racing program or our freestyle program. Joining the ski team is an exciting way for students to travel around the country, meet new people, and work towards achieving their goals. Earlier in 2021, a LAS student competed at the FIS World Championship in Cortina, Italy!
The snow and seasonal cheer that accompanies ski season are what truly bring magic into our charming mountain village. With the snow line already descending on mountains all around Switzerland, it’s only a matter of time before we can strap on our skis and begin to make the most of this magical time of year!
