BISP is thrilled to announce that our talented student, Duana Lama, will be representing Nepal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in July. Duana’s journey in competitive swimming began at just six years old in her homeland of Nepal. Seeking a more conducive environment for her dual pursuits of academics and swimming, her family chose BISP when she turned 12. As a boarding student, Duana has benefited from year-round training in our Olympic-sized swimming pool and the support of our dedicated coaches and staff.
Duana’s transition to BISP marked a significant turning point in her athletic career. Moving from an 18-metre hotel pool in Nepal to BISP’s state-of-the-art facilities, she found herself in an environment that fosters both academic and athletic excellence. “Easy access to facilities has been great, and it’s nice being surrounded by similar people trying to achieve not just their academic goals but their athletic goals too,” Duana shared. The supportive boarding community and specialised support services have played a crucial role in her development, helping her balance rigorous training schedules with her academic responsibilities.
As Duana prepares to compete on the world stage, she remains a source of inspiration for her peers and the entire BISP community. Her dedication and resilience reflect the values we uphold at BISP, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements. We wish Duana the best of luck at the Paris Olympics and look forward to cheering her on as she represents Nepal and BISP with pride.
