This year, our Summer Camp theme was “Festival World Tour” — an exciting journey designed to help our young explorers discover and celebrate cultural festivals from around the globe.
Each week focused on a different festival, allowing students to dive into new traditions, games, recipes, and ways of life. It was a true adventure around the world, all within the walls of our school!
When and How: A Summer of Fun
The camp began right after the end of the school year, in the second week of June, and ran until the end of July.
After a few weeks, our youngest campers from the Early Years joined the older groups, sharing activities, spaces, and lots of fun — making it a true cross-age experience.
Camp ran Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a mix of planned activities and theme-based explorations. Our tutors prepared both regular activities— like water games, talent shows, stitching and sewing, and cooking — and unique weekly experiences inspired by each festival.
Our little travelers:
- Learned basic Flamenco steps in Spanish,
- Played traditional instruments from around the world,
- Tried cricket using the original rules,
- Conducted fun science experiments like launching rockets,
- And cooked delicious homemade bread and pizza in our school kitchen!
Learning Environment
Our teachers designed the Summer Camp with a strong focus on student well-being, fostering a continuous and natural learning process throughout all activities.
There were two main levels of learning:
- Linguistic and cultural growth, through stories, communication, creative expression, and interaction.
- Development of soft skills, such as coordination, creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.
Everything was planned and led by our international, multicultural team, who accompanied each student on their learning journey — supporting, inspiring, and encouraging curiosity.
The Smiling Spirit
Our goal this year was to connect the Summer Camp theme with the everyday atmosphere at Smiling International School.
Being a bilingual, international school gives us the privilege of celebrating diversity on a daily basis — sharing new cultures, ideas, languages, and traditions. It’s this spirit of openness and inclusion that truly defines us and continues to shape our students into global citizens.
