Online IGCSEs at Eureka Learning

Learn more about online IGCSEs at Eureka Learning Online School.

What are IGCSEs?

IGCSE stands for ‘International General Certificate of Secondary Education’, and it is the international version of the GCSE qualification provided in the UK. It’s available in many countries around the world, and it is typically taught in international schools such as ours.

IGCSE qualifications are internationally recognised and act as the gateway to further academic study. IGCSE examinations conclude students’ secondary school education before they move on to AS and A-levels in sixth form.

Who can study IGCSEs?

Our online school offers IGCSE courses for students aged 14 to 16 in years 10 and 11. IGCSE courses are typically 2 years in length, with a final examination at the end. Students will partake in mock exams and practice papers before their official exam to help prepare them and highlight any areas they need to improve in.

Learning Flexibility

Studying IGCSEs online provides a flexible learning approach compared to traditional schooling. Students can choose however many subjects they would like to take, with part-time and full-time options. We teach all of our classes via live classroom lessons, which are scheduled weekly. However, students can also choose to attend lessons on-demand at a more suitable time for them.

With part-time and full-time options, students can choose how they prefer to learn in a style that suits their requirements. Flexibility is an important component for students to get the most out of their learning with an approach that meets their needs.

IGCSE Exams

Our online school doesn’t provide an exam centre as this would be inconvenient for students to access, especially those on an international scale. However, we do provide exam guidance to help support our students when finding an exam centre local to them both on our website and on our online learning platform.

When looking for exam centres local to them, it’s important for students to check they accept private candidates and that they have all the subjects available for exams to be sat. Our help desk provides additional support closer to the time to help support students when finding the best options for them.

How many subjects should I take?

Ultimately, the number of subjects chosen is up to the student and their goals for the future. Students can choose however many subjects they would like, whether they want to study part-time or full-time. Most commonly, students choose between six and eight subjects to study as this helps them to get into further academic studies such as AS and A-levels. The five core GCSE subjects are considered the minimum requirement for progressing into sixth-form education.
