Highgrove Education, a global online school and school services provider, has announced the launch of its new Elective Programme for the academic year 2024-25, starting in the last week of September. The programme is designed to offer students the opportunity to explore subjects beyond the traditional GCSE and A-level curriculum, fostering independent learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The Elective Programme offers a wide range of courses tailored to different academic interests, from advanced maths and science to the arts and business. Whether students wish to gain qualifications that enhance university applications or explore personal interests for the love of learning, the programme provides something for everyone.
As Heather Rhodes, Principal at Highgrove Education, explains: “Our Elective Programme is all about expanding horizons. We want our students to explore topics that fuel their interest and deepen their curiosity and passion. We are excited to offer them the opportunity to engage with these subjects and provide the learning experiences that could shape their futures.”
Key Electives Include:
Business and Finance: Courses such as Introduction to Investment and Financial Asset Management provide students with the opportunity to gain the prestigious CISI
Level 3 qualification, normally reserved for postgraduates. An Entrepreneurship course allows students to pitch their business ideas in a Dragons’ Den-style format, preparing them for the real world of business.
Maths and Science: Featuring electives like Maths University Access Examinations and GCSE Maths Enrichment designed for students who wish to extend their knowledge and problem-solving abilities beyond the standard syllabus.
Arts, Languages, and Social Sciences: Courses such as Creative Writing, French, and Psycholinguistics provide students with unique perspectives, encouraging creativity and critical analysis.
Special Focus on Finance and Investment
One of the most sought-after electives, Introduction to Investment, is also available to adult learners. This course covers essential financial topics such as bonds, derivatives, investment funds, and taxation, and provides the opportunity to sit for the CISI Level 3 exam. As Heather Rhodes comments: “Knowing how to invest wisely is a life skill that very few of us learned in school. We’re changing that by offering this course to both our students and the wider community, equipping them with essential financial knowledge that can secure long-term financial stability.”
