Celebrating the First Week of School at AMADEUS Vienna

A Truly Global Community

The new school year of 2025/26 has officially begun at AMADEUS International School Vienna, and our campus is once again filled with the joy and energy of our international community. We are proud to welcome back students and families representing more than 65 nationalities, each bringing unique perspectives, traditions, and stories to enrich our shared learning environment. Diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and we cherish the way it transforms our school into a truly global village where curiosity, respect, and friendship flourish.

Bright Beginnings and Austrian Traditions

The first day was alive with excitement as students reconnected with friends, met new classmates, and stepped into a year of discovery. Bright smiles and eager voices filled the hallways, reminding us of what makes the start of each academic year so special. For our youngest learners, this milestone was marked with a beloved Austrian tradition: the Schultüte.

Our Grade 1 students were warmly welcomed by our school mascot, Mr Fox, and presented with beautifully decorated cones filled with sweets, and school supplies. This custom marks the joyful beginning of their learning journey at AMADEUS.

The Spirit of the Houses

Another highlight of the week was the much-anticipated House Assembly Day, where our four Houses—Venus, Apollo, Neptune, and Jupiter—came together for the first time this year.

At AMADEUS International School Vienna, our House System plays a vital role in connecting students and strengthening our vibrant Boarding community. It celebrates cultural diversity, fosters friendships across year levels, and builds school spirit through healthy academic and athletic competition. With opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and family engagement, the House System creates a true sense of belonging.

On the first Friday of the new semester, the campus was alive with chants, cheers, and vibrant colours as students proudly represented their Houses. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to demonstrate creativity, collaboration, and leadership as they strive to bring honour to their House. We cannot wait to see which House will claim the title of champion this year! (Spoiler alert, it was Venus last year)

Building Community with AVCA

The AMADEUS Vienna Community Association (AVCA) is a parent-led, not-for-profit organisation that brings together families, staff, and school leadership to strengthen the AMADEUS community. Through volunteering, event organisation, and open dialogue, AVCA supports school initiatives, enhances student life, and fosters meaningful connections among families.

On the first Friday of the new academic year, AVCA hosted a delightful welcome gathering complete with pastries, beverages, and meaningful conversations. It was a wonderful opportunity for new families to feel at home and for returning families to reconnect. AVCA’s efforts remind us that education is not only about academics but also about building a network of care, support, and shared experiences.

AMADEUS: Where Passion Meets Excellence

As Austria’s only school offering both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP), AMADEUS provides a unique pathway for students to pursue their passions while receiving a world-class education. Our graduates go on to study at leading universities and conservatories worldwide, carrying with them the values of curiosity, creativity, and compassion nurtured here.
