Bangkok (15 May 2018) – On 8th May, Shrewsbury International School Bangkok – City Campus, was honoured to host a special reception for founding families and VIP guests ahead of the school’s official opening in August 2018. Located in the Sukhumvit-Rama 9 area in the heart of Bangkok, City Campus has been designed specifically for children aged 3-11 years old. Held at the British Ambassador’s residence, and presided over by Brian Davidson himself, the event brought Shrewsbury’s educational values to life through a visual exhibition, testimonials, speeches and sparkling musical performances from a selection of Shrewsbury ensembles and music scholars; a tangible example for the assembled guests of the focus on excellence that underpins Shrewsbury’s high-achieving reputation.
Joining over 200 honorary guests were dignitaries such as Suphawan Lamsam, Siriya Sophanpanich, Vichita – M.L. Apimongkol Sonakul, Sashon – Surawech Telan, Vorachan Chirathivat and Sujinta Banomyong. Guests were welcomed by Chali Sophonpanich, Founder of Shrewsbury International School, Stephen Holroyd, Director of Schools for Shrewsbury International (Asia), Amanda Dennison, Principal of Shrewsbury International School Bangkok – City Campus, and Siriporn Sophonpanich, Assistant Vice President, City Realty Co.
With a little over 3 months until opening and construction nearly complete, the event was an opportunity for teachers and other representatives of the School to thank founding families for choosing City Campus, and to welcome them into the growing Shrewsbury Community. In choosing the right school for their child, these families have recognized unique position that City Campus to benefit from the standards, experience and expertise nurtured at Riverside for the last 15 years. This knowledge has been used not only to inform the cutting edge design of City Campus’ safe and innovative learning spaces, or its specially adapted curriculum, but also into the direction and leadership of the school, with Amanda Dennison being appointed as founding Principal, following a 7-year tenure as Head of Junior at Riverside.
