At The British International School Abu Dhabi, students are celebrating an extraordinary year of academic achievement, marked by outstanding results in both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the school’s very first cohort of BTEC graduates.
Demonstrating the strength of its dual-pathway approach, BIS Abu Dhabi’s students have shown that excellence can be achieved through both academic and vocational routes, preparing them for a diverse range of university courses and career ambitions.
IB Diploma Success Above Global Standards
This year’s IB Diploma candidates at BIS Abu Dhabi achieved a remarkable average score of 34, well above the global average, and a 99% pass rate. Nearly half of the cohort earned scores of 6 or above, with 20% of students achieving 39 points or more — a score that opens doors to many of the world’s top universities.
A standout achievement came from Adam, a long-standing BIS Abu Dhabi student who earned an impressive 43 out of 45 points, one of the highest possible scores in the programme.
Launching a New Era: First-Ever BTEC Graduates
In parallel, BIS Abu Dhabi marked a historic milestone with the graduation of its first BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma students in Business. The results were equally impressive:
- 100% pass rate
- Cohort average of D*DD
- Four students achieved D*DD or higher, including Fabah, who earned a top score of DDD*
These vocational qualifications are equivalent in value to traditional A levels and are widely accepted by universities and employers, offering a dynamic, hands-on learning experience.
A Pathway for Every Learner
The school’s dual success reflects its commitment to offering high-quality education that caters to a variety of interests and learning styles. Whether through the rigour of the IB Diploma or the career-focused BTEC programme, students at BIS Abu Dhabi are empowered to pursue their ambitions with confidence.
Rachel Batty, University and Careers Counsellor, shared:
“Such excellent results have opened doors to some of the world’s top universities, where students will study a range of degrees — from engineering and medicine to the arts and social sciences. This particular cohort will be remembered as much for their personal qualities as for their academic achievements.”
Graduates from this year’s class have secured offers from institutions such as University College London, University of Edinburgh, Delft University of Technology, EPFL Lausanne, University of Melbourne, and George Washington University, among others.
Looking Ahead
The achievements of the Class of 2025 are a testament to BIS Abu Dhabi’s focus on nurturing every child’s potential, academically, socially, and personally. Through a supportive and forward-thinking environment, students are encouraged to explore their strengths and develop the skills they need to thrive in a fast-changing world.
As the school celebrates this landmark year, it also looks forward to the continued success of its students, who leave not just with impressive qualifications, but with a mindset ready to unlock the future.
