Le Régent College is a British International boarding and day school in the Swiss Alps town of Crans-Montana, for children aged 4-18.

  • Produce well-rounded, internationally-minded young men and women, through a rigorous approach to teaching and learning
  • Teach our students to value cultural differences, through the dynamics of the school’s multi-cultural environment
  • Help our pupils to become caring and compassionate young people by expecting them to embrace and reflect on the school’s four founding principles: Courtesy, Compassion, Creativity and Courage
  • Shape up our students into knowledgeable, industrious, and caring young people who are confident that they can create a better world, and are equipped to do so
  • Provide our future graduates with all the skills and qualifications they will need to enter tomorrow’s fiercely competitive job market
  • Leave a lasting impression on our students so they feel the need, in their adult lives, to emulate the impact we, as a school, made on them.

The British National Curriculum is taught to Reception – Year 11, leading to GCSE and IGSCE, followed by the International Baccalaureate syllabus in the last two years of secondary school. In our Bilingual Infant School, pupils aged 4 to 7 are taught in both English and French.

Our curriculum is designed around our four founding principles (COURTESY, COMPASSION, CREATIVITY and COURAGE) because we don’t just teach but we educate our students. It promotes critical thinking and creativity while providing the competencies necessary for lifelong learning and holistic development.

Our rich extra-curricular programme is designed to provide students with opportunities to challenge themselves and experience a wide range of different activities. It is part and parcel of the education we offer and reinforces our core values.

Our first aim is to ensure that all our students are well-cared for so that they live a happy and fulfilled life and are confident that they will find the help and support they might need at any time.  Successes are always celebrated and when things go wrong, children are guided in the right direction so that mistakes become learning experiences.

Our Saturday programme is an important part of the education we offer. By providing our students with opportunities to challenge themselves, and experience a wide range of different activities, the Saturday programme reinforces our core values of COURTESY, COMPASSION, CREATIVITY and COURAGE. Activities include: International day, rock climbing, high ropes challenge, making pottery, curling, sledging, cross-country skiing, ski touring, wood carving, special presentations, Le Régent Day, going to the opera, and hiking. We expect our Day students to take part in the Saturday activities because they are of great benefit to their development. In order to benefit fully from what the school has to offer, we want them to be as much part of the school life as their family life allows. Sport plays an integral role in the day to day life of pupils at Le Régent College. As well as the obvious health benefits, we know that sport teaches our pupils a plethora of other vital life skills: team work, leadership, resilience, self-discipline, physical and mental commitment, along with a healthy respect for opponents and authority. It is our aim that by the time students leave us they take with them not only a lifelong passion for sport, but also the core skills to be able to enjoy many different sports and activities. The winter term is entirely dedicated to our ski programme, allowing students to ski up to 3 times a week with qualified local instructors. We have an excellent, versatile sports hall, as well as two outdoor tennis courts. We are privileged to be able to play golf on the prestigious Crans-sur-Sierre golf course, and to have the use of a nearby football pitch. Our budding footballers train with a talented and well-qualified coach. As a member of SGIS, we take part in many inter-school competitions every year.It is important that students at Le Régent College develop a relationship with the natural world and learn to enjoy, respect, and take care of our environment. The mountains and forests that surround the school are the perfect classrooms for the children to learn about themselves and the world in which we live. Both in summer and winter, we make the most of this incredible resource to discover the beauty of the environment and the diversity of flora and fauna available right here in Valais. In Year 9, students start work on their their John Muir Award, an environmental award scheme focused on wild places which helps people connect with nature, enjoy, and care for wild places. The environment is not seen in isolation or as an add on but as an essential component at the heart of outdoor experiences, adventure, learning, creativity and wellbeing. Le Régent College is currently the only institution outside of the UK that is recognised as a provider of the John Muir Award.
