3. Full-day childcare
Only private schools or international schools will offer full-day childcare in Switzerland. Public schools have shorter hours: They will start around 8h/8h30 and finish around 3-4 pm, depending on the age, grade, and location (each county in Switzerland is autonomous in regard to education). Parents need to take care of the lunch break, too. There are some childcare options, but the places are generally very limited, and the waiting list can be long. For working families, enrolling in an international private school can be a necessity to be able to work after relocating to Switzerland.
4. After-school activities
International schools offer various sports, arts, and other extracurricular activities. For parents, it is a great opportunity to offer their children many different activities without having to take care of the enrollments, waiting lists, and driving around the city after work.
