The International Baccalaureate, also called IB, is one of the most popular programs around the world thanks to its international recognition and transferability. Most students love learning in the IB system because it doesn’t just teach students content or knowledge, but it also teaches them how to learn and how to think. Many students describe the IB curriculum as challenging, but rewarding. The PYP is very accessible, as is the MYP. To do the DP students should be prepared to work hard as the IB Diploma prepares students for university.

Parent and Student Reviews
- September, 2025My kids are currently in their 11th year at this school and in high school we are truly seeing the benefits of a full language immersive IB education. Both fluent in Spanish (at 14 and 16) my children are doing college level analysis and writing on a daily basis. They are taught not only how to plan and research a topic, but how to relate it to their lives and to the greater community, and then how to carefully review and integrate feedback- all leading to college preparation that gives the kids such confidence as they begin their college search. Also, every graduate I’ve ever met has the ability to engage and connect with teachers and other adults with a maturity beyond their years. All with an approach that encourages the kids to be self reliant and resilient- key factors in success that are harder and harder to find. What felt like a risk early on (throwing my kids into a full langauge immersion) has paid off in spades. Last- we are an incredibly tolerant and safe space for a diverse group of students and families!Show more
- April, 2025This school has an environment that feels like a home with excellent professionals who are top in their fields. The education and values imparted to the children stand out far beyond what is offered by other institutions. I have had the privilege to experience The Wingate School first hand for the past 8 years from working here and having a child in attendance. I have seen them grow and transform over time as an institution as well as the students from little ones into thoughtful, intelligent teenage leaders that inspire, and empower their peers. With the integral character program these children are maturing not only their intelligence but also their capacity for empathy, responsibility, integrity and confidence. Developing both sides of the coin if you will, character and intelect, to work hand in hand to develop our future leaders.Show more
- April, 2025Having worked at this school, I can speak from direct experience, and can say the place really does care about its staff, students and parents. All emails and requests are listened to, and are not just met with a blanket email. The school has been tailored perfectly to fit with its incredible surroundings, and this without doubt also improves everybody’s mood upon entering. The school has gone from strength to strength despite having to deal with the pandemic not long after it opened. I am proud to say I worked there for 4 happy years.Show more
- My family (three children) has been part of this magnificent school for eight years. In addition to the excellent academic level, they are very happy, they learn, they have fun, and their group of friends is trustworthy and close-knit. The School of Character program has provided us with guidance as a family many times. I highly recommend it.Show more
- March, 2025We visited this school for an open house event in the winter. We cannot say enough good things about the faculty. They were a group of incredibly experienced people from around the world, and also very welcoming. You don’t always see that from top talent. With its location next to New York City, the IB, waterfront, and huge campus, this is going to be one of the best schools in the world.Show more
- What I valued most was that as a Canadian day student, I had the chance to meet so many different people from around the world, and learn from their many different perspectives. The rigorous IB program taught me how to be a continuous learner, has equipped me to be confident about being able to success going into my university program. The program opened up so many doors to my future career.Show more
- February, 2023As a teacher myself, I have a very discerning eye when it comes to evaluating an academic environment; LILA – Los Feliz is truly 5 star in every category. My son is happy and enthusiastic about his experience. The after school programs are also great – we do Tae Kwon Do, Art, and Chess. The teachers are so dedicated and skilled. We are not a French speaking family, but we are thrilled that our son is becoming a bilingual, compassionate, and independent member of the global community!Show more
- February, 2023Our boys attended this school from 2012-2017, they ‘grew up’ so happily here. It’s a wonderful diverse environment for learning and community. Although we speak limited French at home they emerged as bilingual; more importantly as boys who are open, accepting, worldly wise and curious. This school and the learning experience it offers will stay with you forever.Show more
- February, 2023Our kids have been attending for 7 years now. While no place is perfect, we’ve found the school to be an amazing and beautifully cultivating educational experience for our kids. It’s not easy to get in and we consider ourselves very lucky. The community there is fantastic and we’re finding parents we absolutely adore. I highly recommend you visit the school and see for yourself. We love it there and couldn’t recommend it more highly!Show more
- February, 2023I love the fact that the school always gives us opportunities to do other extracurricular activities by encouraging us to create our own clubs and sports teams. People are down-to-earth and friendly which makes a new student like me feel safe and surrounded.Show more
- February, 2023I like how the classes are set up –small classes and the teachers give you full attention.Show more
