Why choose the International Baccalaureate?
Opting for an IB (International Baccalaureate) school in the USA offers a unique educational experience that stands out due to its rigorous curriculum and international perspective. The IB program is renowned for its holistic approach to education, encouraging students to think critically, communicate effectively, and understand diverse cultures, preparing them for global challenges and opportunities.
Comprehensive Curriculum
The IB curriculum is meticulously structured to foster academic excellence. It integrates subjects in a way that helps students make connections across disciplines. For instance, the Theory of Knowledge course challenges students to reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we claim to know what we know. This kind of interdisciplinary learning encourages students to become not only scholars but also thinkers, capable of linking their learning to the real world.
Development of Critical Thinking Skills
IB schools prioritize critical thinking and analytical skills. Students engage in research projects and presentations from an early age, which instills a deep understanding of the research process and the ability to question and reason logically. These skills are invaluable, not just academically but also in everyday decision-making and problem-solving scenarios.
Global Recognition
Graduates from IB schools are highly sought after by universities around the world. The IB diploma is recognized globally and is often regarded as a standard of excellence in education. This recognition facilitates easier transitions for students applying to top universities internationally and domestically, providing them with a substantial advantage in the highly competitive college admission process.
Emphasis on Personal Development
Beyond academics, IB schools in the US focus significantly on personal development. The Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component of the IB diploma requires students to engage in artistic pursuits, sports, and community service. This not only enriches the student’s high school experience but also molds them into well-rounded individuals with a sense of responsibility towards their community.
Cultivating International Mindedness
With a curriculum that promotes understanding of various cultures and global issues, students are encouraged to think globally and act locally. Learning a second language is a requirement, enhancing students’ ability to communicate and function in a globalized world. This international mindedness is essential in today’s interconnected world and positions students to take on roles that require a global perspective.
In conclusion, choosing an IB school in the USA equips students with a robust academic foundation, critical life skills, and a global outlook that prepares them for success in higher education and beyond. It’s an educational path that fosters not only intellectual growth but also personal and social development, making it an exemplary choice for holistic education.
Why study IB in the USA?
Many top universities agree, and an increasing number of them are revising their admissions criteria to attract more IB graduates. Among other examples, Claugthon mentions King’s College, London, and points to the fact that 20 percent of the university’s new undergraduates are IB students. If you are looking for an education that stimulates and challenges you but also requires hard work, then an International Baccalaureate school is the perfect place for you. Education experts around the world agree on many benefits of studying abroad. The choice of the country will depend on the individual preferences, but any destination will bring the student to experience a new culture, meet international friends, create more independence and confidence, develop new language skills, boost social network and increase future professional opportunities.
The USA is a multicultural and flourishing country, boasting one of the world’s finest education system, with outstanding programs and prestigious international schools renowned throughout the world for their excellence. Registering your child for an international school in the USA will give him the unrivaled opportunity to set the basis for a successful career!

Parent and Student Reviews
- September, 2025My kids are currently in their 11th year at this school and in high school we are truly seeing the benefits of a full language immersive IB education. Both fluent in Spanish (at 14 and 16) my children are doing college level analysis and writing on a daily basis. They are taught not only how to plan and research a topic, but how to relate it to their lives and to the greater community, and then how to carefully review and integrate feedback- all leading to college preparation that gives the kids such confidence as they begin their college search. Also, every graduate I’ve ever met has the ability to engage and connect with teachers and other adults with a maturity beyond their years. All with an approach that encourages the kids to be self reliant and resilient- key factors in success that are harder and harder to find. What felt like a risk early on (throwing my kids into a full langauge immersion) has paid off in spades. Last- we are an incredibly tolerant and safe space for a diverse group of students and families!Show more
- March, 2025We visited this school for an open house event in the winter. We cannot say enough good things about the faculty. They were a group of incredibly experienced people from around the world, and also very welcoming. You don’t always see that from top talent. With its location next to New York City, the IB, waterfront, and huge campus, this is going to be one of the best schools in the world.Show more
- February, 2023As a teacher myself, I have a very discerning eye when it comes to evaluating an academic environment; LILA – Los Feliz is truly 5 star in every category. My son is happy and enthusiastic about his experience. The after school programs are also great – we do Tae Kwon Do, Art, and Chess. The teachers are so dedicated and skilled. We are not a French speaking family, but we are thrilled that our son is becoming a bilingual, compassionate, and independent member of the global community!Show more
- February, 2023Our boys attended this school from 2012-2017, they ‘grew up’ so happily here. It’s a wonderful diverse environment for learning and community. Although we speak limited French at home they emerged as bilingual; more importantly as boys who are open, accepting, worldly wise and curious. This school and the learning experience it offers will stay with you forever.Show more
- February, 2023Our kids have been attending for 7 years now. While no place is perfect, we’ve found the school to be an amazing and beautifully cultivating educational experience for our kids. It’s not easy to get in and we consider ourselves very lucky. The community there is fantastic and we’re finding parents we absolutely adore. I highly recommend you visit the school and see for yourself. We love it there and couldn’t recommend it more highly!Show more
- February, 2023Dwight does a great job of making sure that everyone has the opportunity to make friends and to enjoy their learning experiences. Some of my favorite parts about Dwight Global are our Orientation weekend, advisory, and group assignments. We get so many opportunities to build community, and make great memories! Classes are so much fun and the live environment ensures that you will never be bored! Never be afraid to get involved, and you can always reach out to your teachers, deans, and classmates for guidance and help 🙂Show more
- February, 2023I have been with Dwight Global for the entirety of my high school career, and I can honestly say that there is not a single thing that I don’t love about my school – I am truly honored and grateful to be a part of this community! Through my three years at Dwight, there are so many fun activities and events that I’ve participated in. I have to say, my favorite of these might be our house system! I am Head of Green House, and I love how the house system fosters such strong connections within Dwight, regardless of what grades students are in. We have debates, fun trivia competitions, and even a Spirit Week. The people and family that you will find at Dwight are absolutely unparalleled, and I can guarantee that you will love attending your life classes and interacting with your peers during clubs, house activities, and more!Show more
- February, 2023I love the fact that the school always gives us opportunities to do other extracurricular activities by encouraging us to create our own clubs and sports teams. People are down-to-earth and friendly which makes a new student like me feel safe and surrounded.Show more
- February, 2023I like how the classes are set up –small classes and the teachers give you full attention.Show more
- February, 2023I really like that Village offers the IB Diploma program. It is very rigorous.Show more
- February, 2023I loved participating in Macy Sullivan’s class. It let us explore concepts that we don’t usually cover in everyday classes. Like all of the guest artists who participate in the Juilliard collaboration, she has so much information and unique insight when teaching that made the class a very educational and enjoyable experience.Show more
- February, 2023Teachers are great here. In other schools that I’ve gone to, they never taught like here. At North Broward Preparatory School, they focus on you as an individual.Show more
