Overview
Stamford American School Hong Kong is a K-12 IB World School that creates an inspiring world of education for students aged 5 to 18 that builds self-belief and empowers individuals to succeed. Combining an engaging inquiry-based learning approach with rigorous American academic standards ensures every student achieves growth while enjoying learning. All graduates receive the Stamford American High School Diploma accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), which provides your child a passport to universities globally.
Children can pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or select curated I courses. Starting at age five, our pioneering STEMinn program (science, technology, engineering, math, and innovation) develops critical skills needed for the 21 st Century by combining innovative projects with the latest technology. In addition to core subjects, our broad and balanced curriculum includes athletics, the arts, and a leveled daily world language program (Mandarin or Spanish) or a bilingual option (Mandarin/English) in elementary. We offer various after-school programs (CCA) so every child can pursue their passions and interests.

Stamford uses an American standards-based curriculum based on the rigorous and proven American Education Reaches Out (AERO) and Common Core Plus standards that develop a strong foundation in the core subjects such as language, art, math, humanities, and science. We deliver this curriculum using an inquiry-based approach across themes and nurture every child through a personalized learning approach to foster curiosity and independent thinking. Our programs culminate with three diploma options, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP).In addition to our adopted American standards, the core of our curriculum has several elements that focus on developing the whole child. These elements include global citizenship, approaches to learning, international mindedness, service learning, building character, and social-emotional skills. These elements are crucial to fostering successful individuals to achieve both academic success and real-world skills. As life outside the classroom requires individuals to work across a broad range of skills and subject areas when solving problems, we use a cross-curricular approach to allow students to combine multiple skills and areas of knowledge. Hands-on project-based learning not only engages learners but allows skill application rather than just testing content memory.

The Spirit of Stamford Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding secondary students who possess various talents and will make a positive contribution to the Stamford community.
The internal scholarship program is open to all Grade 9 to 11 students at Stamford American School.
We offer two types of scholarships for the Spirit of Stamford:
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP celebrates students with demonstrated academic merits and leadership in all areas. We will award a maximum scholarship of 50% to offset the student’s tuition fees in the next academic year. Apply Now.
SPECIALIST SCHOLARSHIP celebrates students with demonstrated expertise and depth in one or more of the four specialist categories (Leadership & Service, Sports, STEM& Innovation, and the Arts). We will award a maximum scholarship of 25% to offset the student’s tuition fees in the next academic year. Apply Now.
This program accepts applications from now until January 9, 2026. Interviews will occur in February & March, and results will be announced by April 2026. The award will offset the student’s tuition fees next academic year.
External Scholarship Program
The Stamford American School Hong Kong External Scholarship Program welcomes talented secondary students to join our world-class IB pathway and vibrant, global community. Outstanding applicants may even be awarded up to 75% tuition scholarship for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)!
