Academics
The Churchie Learning Framework provides an overarching philosophy for teaching and learning at Churchie from Reception to Year 12, tailored to each age and stage of the curriculum as students move towards full maturation.
Churchie offers a broad, liberal education based on the Australian Curriculum and the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) syllabuses. Churchie is also an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for the delivery of the IB Primary Years Programme and the Diploma Programme.
To present students with the best academic pathway to suit their goals, the Senior School curriculum culminates in three distinct pathways. Students choose between the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), the IB Diploma Programme or, where appropriate, vocational education (VET) pathways and electives.
Extra curricular
There is a wide and varied sports and activities programme in which boys can challenge and extend themselves. Interhouse competitions and carnivals, combined with opportunities to participate in interstate and overseas tours, are available across our broad cocurricular programme.
We aim to foster growth and development in the life of every young man by providing a comprehensive range of opportunities and activities. In developing positive relationships with peers and staff, students can maximise their opportunities for improvement and achievement.
Cocurricular opportunities include: basketball, chess, cricket, debating, drama, football, music, rowing, rugby, stage crew, swimming, track and field, tennis, volleyball, water polo and more.
Boarding
Boarding at Churchie is the quintessential Australian boarding school experience. Churchie offers boarding from Year 7 to Year 12
Proud of our heritage and welcoming to all, Churchie’s 24/7 boarding programme is an immersive experience, bringing together boys from the country, the regions and the world in a supportive environment with great facilities and dedicated staff.
Reflecting its origins as the heart of the School, the Churchie Boarding precinct is located in the centre of the School’s large single campus in inner-city East Brisbane. Boarders have easy access to all sporting and academic facilities and all the exciting opportunities of the city of Brisbane.
Churchie’s seven-day-a-week boarding philosophy provides a place for boarders to thrive. The School enjoys the support that parents provide, many of whom have been with Churchie for generations.
