EUROPEAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF BARCELONA was founded in 1996 by a group of dedicated educators led by the Herranz-Frías family. With a long history in education, the founders sought to create a space where students could grow and develop in all aspects of their lives.

We are an independent school with a humanistic, ecological and international approach, constantly evolving and highly capable of tailoring programs to the needs of each student. We strive to optimize the time students spend with us, fostering the development of their talents and skills, cultivating sensitivity to sustainability and highlighting the unique and singular contributions each student can offer to society. We support and guide them in their humanistic and academic growth.

With 1500 pupils of over 60 different nationalities, our project, under the guidance of a stable academic team, begins in Nursery and culminates in the 2nd year of Baccalaureate. At this stage, pupils have the option of taking the National Baccalaureate, the International Baccalaureate or the American High School Diploma.

The school is located just 15 km from the centre of Barcelona and is surrounded by the natural environment of Collserola Natural Park. The campus extends across 20,000 m² and features modern facilities including classrooms, laboratories, dining areas, an auditorium, kitchen facilities and a large sports centre with two indoor swimming pools.

EISB also offers a specialised boarding programme for students enrolled in its high-performance football pathway, combining academic excellence with elite athletic development.

European International School of Barcelona offers a continuous educational journey from Nursery (9 months) through to pre-university education, in a welcoming, family-oriented environment where each student is supported in developing their individual talents, interests and aspirations.
Our educational approach combines strong academic foundations with personalised learning and guidance throughout every stage. In Early Years and Primary, students benefit from a multilingual education supported by Cambridge International programmes, helping them develop essential academic, linguistic and personal skills.
As students progress through Secondary and into their final two years, our teaching and educational psychology teams help them make informed decisions about their future. We offer three pre-university pathways: the Spanish National Baccalaureate, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the American High School Diploma (AHS), preparing students for university studies in Spain and around the world.
Multilingualism is an integral part of everyday life at EISB. English, Spanish and Catalan are our languages of instruction, while students also learn French and can choose between German and Chinese. Languages are taught by native-speaking teachers and language specialists, encouraging students to develop their communication skills in an international environment. Our International Homeroom programme also supports newly arrived students as they adapt to their new school and develop their language skills.
Students can prepare for a range of internationally recognised examinations, including Cambridge English, SAT, Trinity College London, DELF, Goethe-Institut and HSK examinations, alongside Cambridge International assessments.
Technology is integrated into teaching and learning, with students developing digital literacy, creativity and critical thinking through STEAM activities, programming, robotics, artificial intelligence and digital projects.
International experiences are another important part of our educational approach. Through exchanges, educational trips and academic, cultural and sporting programmes, students discover different countries, cultures and ways of life. They can also take part in initiatives such as Model United Nations (MUN), the European Youth Parliament (EYP), International Maths Quests and international sports competitions.
Our students go on to study at universities in Spain and internationally, including institutions such as ESADE, IE University, the University of Navarra, University College London (UCL), King's College London, the London School of Economics (LSE), the University of Oxford, Rotterdam School of Management and universities in the United States and Asia. Through our collaboration with AGM Sport, students may also access opportunities for academic and athletic scholarships at US universities.
