Our Hangzhou International School Robotics Teams recently competed in the ACAMIS VEX Robotics China National Championships, held at the Canadian International School of Guangzhou. The event brought together international schools from across China for two full days of intense competition.
To secure a spot at the national finals, our teams first had to participate in a regional qualifier at Concordia International School Shanghai. After demonstrating their skills and teamwork, all of our teams earned a place in the prestigious Guangzhou-held championships.
Representing our school, one Middle School team and three Lower School teams took on the challenge. After two days of qualification matches, three of our four teams advanced to the finals, where they were paired with other schools in alliances to maximize their scores.
Competing against nearly 90 teams nationwide, our students achieved incredible results, securing 9th and 10th place overall. Beyond the matches, they showcased their expertise in driver skills challenges, alliance formations, engineering notebook submissions, and judge interviews.
Notably, two of our teams won prestigious awards—one receiving the Judges Award and another taking home the Inspire Award, marking a significant achievement for our robotics program.
Team Coach Emlyn Majoos (Mr Em) expressed immense pride in the students’ growth, perseverance, and outstanding representation of our school:
Their commitment and teamwork throughout the competition were truly inspiring. A heartfelt thank you goes to the parents who accompanied and supported the teams, playing the roles of coaches, cheerleaders, and emotional supporters. Their encouragement made this robotics journey even more memorable and rewarding.
