Throughout the first year of the IB Diploma Programme, students undertake an Entrepreneurship Project where they follow design thinking methodologies to identify and validate a problem, develop, and test their solutions to propose a business idea. Finalists were chosen based on the quality and content of their pitch, to participate in the finals held at the Google Campus Madrid, one of the 7 venues where Google supports tech-startups worldwide. A total of 6 finalists, the teams had to present a 4-minute pitch with their value proposition to a jury, showcasing the communication, creativity and problem-solving skills learned during the project.
The finalists were chosen based on their quality, content, and storytelling. PlaniMe, Nomad Travel, Connect, Fylo, Time Treasure, and EZT Easy Eating were the finalist student teams! Their value propositions focused on social activities, travel, sustainability, reproductive-health, and time management.
The venue for the finals, Google Campus Madrid, was an ideal location to inspire their entrepreneurial spirit. The event started with a welcome speech by Sofia Benjumea, Head of Google for Startups for Europe, Middle East and Africa. This was followed by a conversation with our keynote speaker, Juan de Antonio, Founder and CEO of Cabify, where he shared his experience and challenges faced as an entrepreneur. In 2011, Juan de Antonio founded his company and in the last 12 years it has become a leading mobility platform in Spain and Latin America. He emphasized how the most important characteristic for an entrepreneur to have is purpose, which is the main driver that pushes them forward when leading a project.
Following these inspiring conversations, a challenging contest and inspiring pitches took place. The PlaniMe team won the finals of the Entrepreneurship Project! We extend our congratulations to the team for their remarkable efforts. PlaniMe is a mobile application aimed at fostering genuine connections rooted in shared values and interests. By facilitating connections among individuals interested in participating events and activities, PlaniMe strives to create meaningful relationships. Furthermore, the team has an exciting opportunity to present their ideas at the IE Business School Venture Day.
