Perfectly positioned in the heart of Europe, Leysin American School opens the door to unforgettable cultural and historical experiences both within Switzerland and beyond. Our school trips take learning far outside the classroom—students explore world-class cities, discover iconic landmarks, and immerse themselves in new traditions, languages, and perspectives. These shared adventures strengthen friendships and help students develop a deeper understanding of the world and their place in it.

Each Fall and Spring, all Leysin American School students embark on our Signature Cultural Trips across Europe Organized by grade level, these experiences offer a meaningful opportunity to share one final adventure with classmates before the school year ends and summer begins. Visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites, exploring renowned artisanal food producers, cycling oceanside trails, swimming in crystal-clear waters, wandering through ancient villages, harvesting lavender, surfing Atlantic waves, exploring seaside caves, trekking across active volcanoes, and eco-touring through lush, biodiverse rainforests are just some of the ways students experience these destinations. Along the way, they connect with local cultures through cooking, crafts, art, dance, music, and many other hands-on activities that broaden their global perspective.

The destinations from this past Spring were nothing short of spectacular: Provence (France), with its lavender fields, medieval villages, and sun-drenched countryside; Cinque Terre (Italy), a breathtaking string of colorful cliffside villages; Puglia and Sicily (Italy), where ancient history meets incredible cuisine; Madeira Island (Portugal), a lush jewel in the Atlantic; Malta, a small island nation layered with thousands of years of history; Croatia, known for its dramatic coastline and walled medieval cities; and Portugal’s Atlantic coast, where students swap mountain views for unforgettable surfing experiences.

These trips are more than just travel. They are an extension of the Leysin American School education. They foster independence, expand perspectives, and create the kind of shared memories that define the LAS experience.
