Academics
Smiling International School is a “Scuola Paritaria” in Ferrara: we teach the Italian ministerial curriculum in English through modern, interdisciplinary teaching methods.
Our teachers prepare students (6-18 years old) for CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language) certification in English (Cambridge), Spanish (DELE) and Chinese (HSK) as an integral part of the various curricula.
Smiling International School offers two Secondary School pathways:
– the 4-year Linguistic High School, which combines language studies with topical subjects such as Business, Critical Thinking, Mathematics and Physics;
– the 4-year IB (2 years in the MYP* + 2 years in the IB Diploma Programme), with a focus on the STEM subjects
*Smiling International School is a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme.
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a two-year, rigorous academic programme of studies which prepares students aged 16-19 access the top universities in Italy and abroad. It provides a solid educational foundation, developing transferrable skills that lead to academic and personal success. The flexible curriculum framework allows the school to develop a programme that adapts to the cultural context, needs, abilities and interests of the students.
Extra curricular
Smiling International School offers the opportunity for extra-curricular activities within both campuses at the end of the school day.
Every year, we try to give our students the opportunity to pursue their passions from the comfort of school at the end of their classes!
Basketball and Mini Basketball classes, Sports Dance, Digital Painting and Yoga are some of the many activities offered each year.
Boarding
Our students (minimum of 14 years old) can request accommodation in our boarding facility on the Roversella campus. Smiling International School provides a safe living space for our students, who are also supervised by our designated tutor.
SIS’s main boarding accomodation constists of 3 double rooms with separate beds and a private bathroom, recently renovated. The common area includes a kitchen and a dining room, and a laundry room.
