Founded in 1842, the historic, residential 23-acre campus is located in the heart of North Carolina's capital city of Raleigh, offering easy access to all the city has to offer as well as a peaceful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle.

With a mission to prepare girls for college and life, Saint Mary’s immerses girls in a dynamic learning environment offering both hands-on classroom learning and opportunities for real-world experiences.

Focused on developing key competencies like critical thinking, collaboration, cross-cultural intelligence, and new media literacy, Saint Mary’s offers AP courses, innovative electives, a unique seminar program, college counseling, a rich arts program, 11 sports, and a thriving urban location.

In keeping with our Episcopal tradition, the Saint Mary's School community respects the worth and dignity of every person. As a boarding and day school, students learn and live beside girls from across the region, the state, the country, and the world as they explore new ideas, deepen their understanding, and grow as young women of intelligence, integrity, and purpose.

Academics

Saint Mary’s School offers high school courses at two levels: honors and Advanced Placement (AP). Placement in courses is determined through the Course Request Process - by teachers and advisors in consultation with students and parents. Each student has different strengths and weaknesses in her learning styles and subject areas. Students are strongly encouraged to select classes that enhance their learning, complement their learning styles, and allow for an overall positive school experience. All courses at Saint Mary’s are designed to meet our mission of preparing students for college and for life.

Extra-curricular

We offer a full interscholastic athletic program, consisting of 19 teams in the following 12 sports: cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, golf, tennis, volleyball, basketball, swimming, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and track & field. Saint Mary's School competes as a member of the Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference (TISAC) and the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAS, 4A Classification). Saint Mary's School now provides a full-time athletic trainer for all on-campus. Whatever your interests, you will find something to inspire you to express yourself and grow as a leader.
