Boarding

IBS has 150 students living in boarding homes from 10 to 18 years old who benefit from a truly stimulating environment of linguistic and cultural exchange.

Of course, boarding students benefit from a specialized program (with scheduled study periods both at school and at their boarding homes).

These study periods are designed to encourage self-motivated, independent learning – a skill which will serve them well as they go on to study at university.

The close proximity enjoyed between students of diverse nationalities fosters language learning and cultural awareness.

Responsible, experienced adults living in the boarding homes work hard to ensure a climate of trust, respect and understanding.

In this way, our boarding homes provide students with a friendly, family-style atmosphere – a place of authentic “life together”.

Overview

The International Bilingual School of Provence, an independent coeducational school located near Aix-en-Provence in the south of France, owes its international character to the diversity of its student population. The school, established since 1984, has both a Primary and Secondary section with an annual total enrolment of 950 students who come from more than 75 different countries. In addition to the French students who make up 50% of the student population, IBS welcomes pupils from the five continents, both as boarding and day students, while they pursue their education in English, French or both.

A particularity of the school is that the international section is not dominated by any one nationality and new students are made to feel at home immediately. Committed to French-English bilingualism, the school offers both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the French Baccalaureate. The school offers seven first languages to ensure that the student maintains his/her own language skills.

Philosophy
Small classrooms, qualified teachers, modern facilities in a tranquil, calm environment help ensure the success of each student. The campus is concentrated around the main building, a typical ‘Mas’ that is perfectly adapted to the daily activities of the school. IBS offers its students the most modern boarding houses and our campus includes: an audio-visual centre, fully-equipped science laboratory, newly designed dining hall, computer labs, library, swimming pool, fitness room, tennis courts, soccer field, and dance/martial arts/table tennis hall. Involvement in various extracurricular activities is expected and enhances the development of each individual’s character within the spirit of the school. Politeness, respect and consideration for others are important values at IBS. Students leave IBS, the majority for university placements, as caring, responsible young citizens.

Summer school
During the spring and summer holidays, IBS offers intensive French as a Foreign Language and English immersion programmes. Over 400 students from all over the world join IBS every summer to develop their language skills while discovering the beauty of the Provence region.

Admissions
Admission applications are accepted throughout the year for interested students. For more information, contact the Admissions Department at info@ibsofprovence.com or consult the school website at: www.ibsofprovence.com
