The American International School of Guangzhou is an independent, non-profit, multicultural, and co-educational day school for foreign children from preschool to Grade 12. It is located in Guangzhou, China, with an Elementary School campus on ErSha Island, Yuexiu District and a Secondary School campus in Science Park, Huangpu District. Founded in 1981, AISG is the oldest and longest established non-profit international school in South China.
AISG is on the path to becoming an IB World Continuum School and seeks to add the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) to the already offered IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). In addition, AISG has a standards-based curriculum; American Education Reaches Out (AERO), Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are used throughout all phases to tailor a program most relevant to our unique context and learners.
AISG enrolls over 1,000 international students from preschool to Grade 12 and our student body demographics reflect our international environment with over 40 nationalities. Our students are guided by faculty who challenge them to achieve, nurtured in an environment where creativity and inquiry are celebrated, and supported by a community who understands the power of a growth mindset.
AISG is a caring community that employs experienced teachers who are passionate and bring their forward-thinking pedagogy along with an empathetic approach to enrich each child’s learning. More than 78% of our 110 innovative faculty members have attained their master’s degrees and more than 68% have over 11 years of experience in education.
Our campuses are designed with the future of learning in mind. Both campuses embrace world-class class learning environments, including open learning spaces to promote collaborative and transparent learning with a green building design and flexible spaces that can evolve with the pedagogical changes that lie ahead.
AISG boasts an extensive athletic program, giving our student athletes the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports against other schools both internationally and within China. In addition, AISG offers a diversity of options for our after-school activities program, ranging from academic, sports, arts, music, technology, and social, allowing students to enjoy a current passion or find a new one.
From our volunteer board members to our dedicated faculty, to our supportive parents, to our hard-working students, AISG has a sense of connection and community in working together to fulfill our mission of providing inclusive pathways to empower all learners to make a positive impact.
