Hangzhou International School named #1 International High School in Hangzhou by Forbes

The 2025 Forbes China International School Annual Selection has been announced, and Hangzhou International School was named ‘Best International High School in Hangzhou’.

For their survey, Forbes China evaluated numerous aspects of more than 3,000 schools across the country, reviewing their financial strength, academic achievement, faculty strength, academic characteristics, and the reputation of the school among overseas university admissions officers, to shortlist the Top 100 International Schools in China.

This year, Hangzhou International School was ranked the Number One International High School in Hangzhou, and 22nd in the entire country – a rank that rises to 10th place when only schools outside the mega cities of Shanghai and Beijing are considered. HIS was also ranked by Forbes China in the Top 30 International Kindergartens in the country.

We have jumped a remarkable 16 places up the rankings since 2024, and were highlighted by Forbes China as one of their top 4 movers this year. This is in recognition of our continuous investment in academic improvement, and state-of-the-art facilities.

Hangzhou International School graduates go on to some of the world’s best universities, including the Top 100 ranked by QS World University Rankings, the prestigious Russell Group in the UK, and the American Ivy League – with grades that are consistently above the world average.

“We are extremely proud to receive this recognition from Forbes China. With more than 1,000 students this year, and celebrating our 25th anniversary soon, our community continues to go from strength to strength”
– HIS Superintendent Jeffry Stubbs
