The highly anticipated 2023 Phuket University Fair at BISP has concluded successfully, and it was indeed an incredible event! We were thrilled to host representatives from 120 universities and higher education providers on our campus. This event provided students, both from BISP and other schools in Phuket, as well as parents, with a unique opportunity to explore a diverse range of colleges and universities from around the world.
In addition to the main fair where community members had the opportunity to visit university representatives, each offering comprehensive information about their respective schools, we also offered numerous workshops for students and parents. In the morning, parents had the opportunity to participate in a ‘Blind Fair’ where 20 university representatives, wearing white lab coats without revealing their university names, presented information about their schools to our parents. The Blind Fair is a great way to challenge our biases towards certain locations or university names, which may otherwise prevent us from finding the best fit for our students.
The day-long event was filled with a series of informative workshops, in the morning for BISP students and in the afternoon for visiting schools. Our Year 11 students engaged in sessions exploring university-level subjects of study such as Medicine, The Arts, Hospitality and Engineering. Meanwhile, Year 12 and 13 students were provided with tailored workshops geared towards the application process. These workshops offered valuable insights into higher education opportunities in countries like The Netherlands and Canada, as well as guidance on intricate aspects of applications, including scholarships in the United States and crafting personal statements for UK applications.
It was a bustling and busy day filled with exploration, discovery and valuable knowledge sharing, helping our students and parents make informed decisions about their future academic pursuits. Looking ahead, we are excited to build on the success of this year’s University Fair and are already making plans to host an even more enriching event next year.
