Overview
Established in 1997, The British International School, Ukraine (BISU) was the first school in Ukraine to introduce a British-based international education. For nearly three decades, we have upheld the traditions and values of British education while preparing generations of students to succeed in an interconnected world.
As Ukraine’s first Cambridge-authorised examination centre, BISU offers the Cambridge Pathway, renowned for its academic rigour, structured progression and comprehensive approach to teaching, assessment and tracking student progress. Our broad and balanced curriculum develops the knowledge, skills and intellectual independence students need to progress to leading universities around the world. Students can pursue Cambridge IGCSEs completed with A Level qualifications or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Education that develops the whole person
Welcoming children aged 3–18, BISU is an inclusive international community where academic achievement goes hand in hand with personal growth. We nurture curiosity, creative thinking, social responsibility and global awareness, creating a safe and supportive environment built on care, trust and mutual respect.
We believe that education should do more than prepare students for examinations. It should challenge them to think critically, embrace different perspectives, act with integrity and develop the confidence and courage to shape their own futures. Through a holistic educational experience, our students develop not only academic knowledge but also the character, independence and practical capabilities they need to thrive beyond the classroom.
Every child matters
At BISU, we know that academic results matter – but so does happiness. Every student deserves to be recognised as an individual, supported in their development and encouraged to discover their strengths and aspirations.
We cultivate wisdom, character and capability in every child, helping them find their purpose and develop the confidence to make a meaningful contribution to the world. Our commitment extends beyond academic success to the wellbeing, personal development and future potential of every student.
Preparing global citizens
As part of an international learning community, BISU students engage with different cultures, perspectives and ideas. Through international initiatives and collaborative projects, they develop cross-cultural communication, shared responsibility and a strong sense of global citizenship.
We equip our students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century – enabling them to become thoughtful, adaptable and responsible contributors to an ever-changing world.
A foundation for lifelong success
BISU graduates go on to pursue further education and build careers across a wide range of fields, including politics, science, business and the arts. More than 1,000 BISU graduates have progressed to leading universities around the world, carrying forward the knowledge, values and capabilities developed during their time at our school.
For us, success is measured not only by where our students go, but also by who they become – and by the difference they make throughout their lives.
