Overview
Le Sallay’s blended learning model allows your child to combine studying online from anywhere with the inspiring experience of three-week long boarding sessions in France four times a year.We have small classes, ensuring emotional comfort and full immersion, where teacher/student ratio (online and on-site) varies from individual classes to small groups of 5-7 students, and a team of psychologists and counsellors who monitor group dynamics during on-site sessions and maintain continuous communication during online studies.
The international curriculum is aimed at developing critically important skills, such as the understanding of conceptual relationships, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking, and prepares your child for the high school of their choice.
60% of our students benefit from the grants and scholarships that we offer.
Le Sallay Academy is committed to supporting frequently relocating families, and in 2022 has been shortlisted as for Relocate Global Award in School Excellence for Relocation.
Academics
Our engaging and academically rigorous curriculum is developed and customized in accordance with our learning model. Our approach to learning is based on developing critically important skills, such as the understanding of conceptual relationships, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Our school does not have classes with fixed rosters. Students of different ages study in small 4-7 person groups. Every student has an individual learning plan that takes into account their education goals. The study plans are finalized after the September on-site sessions when the teachers have had a chance to assess the students’ current level and group students that best fit together.
In our curriculum, every subject area is subdivided into several courses of varying duration: one academic year in humanities and languages and courses of varying length in STEM. Each course combines several interrelated disciplines that are usually separated in a traditional school.
Academic Subjects
Every student's learning plan includes 7 mandatory subjects: 2 courses in humanities, 2 science courses, mathematics, and 2 foreign languages.
Students can also opt to study Russian literature.
Humanities
Social studies (history, geography, social studies, history of world culture)
English and world literature (English, history of literature, history of world culture)
Russian (optional)
STEM
Our approach to teaching mathematics and sciences is based on interdisciplinarity and the permanent cross-over between different areas of knowledge. An individual learning pathway is created for each student, enabling them to proceed from their current knowledge level, creating a comfortable learning environment.
STEM courses include
Sciences 1 (astronomy, physics, geology, geography)
Science 2 (biology, chemistry)
Math (algebra, geometry)
Languages
French
Spanish

Boarding
All of our in-person study sessions are held in France in Chateau Le Sallay - a medieval castle that was rebuilt into a modern hotel equipped with all facilities needed for learning.
In-person sessions include
5-8 lessons a day in mini-groups
sports and outdoor activities
teambuilding exercises, quests, and role-playing programs developed by our team of experienced counselors
presentations by visiting scholars and professionals from different fields, including scientists, writers, artists, journalists, and media experts.
While in-person sessions help students deepen their content knowledge, they also provide opportunities to focus on improving socialization, interpersonal communication, and emotional self-regulation.
The integral part of the on-site session is the program of non-academic activities developed by our counselors. We have a team that has extensive experience in working with children of different ages. They create an atmosphere of fun and learning that helps children to build relationships and friendships that support their learning outcomes and help them stay engaged and motivated.
Our online classes encourage effective learning!
- The maximum number of participants is 3–6 students
- All classes are live and interactive; there are no pre-recorded videos
- There are 4-6 online classes a day, depending on a student's learning path and individual needs.
Online classes are held in modern virtual classrooms (Zoom, Whereby) where teachers can see students and monitor their activity. Students use a variety of digital tools to work in class, complete their homework, and develop projects.
Online school clubs (e.g. role-playing, math, arts) meet outside of scheduled instructional hours during online sessions.
Once a week the student has individual meetings with their assigned mentor to discuss their personal challenges and successes.
Parents can monitor the student's progress, attendance, grades, and feedback via the school's learning portal.
