The British International School Abu Dhabi is celebrating an important milestone, having once again been recognised as Outstanding in the 2025/26 ADEK Irtiqaa inspection. First awarded in 2021, the school’s top rating has now been successfully reaffirmed, underscoring a culture of excellence that continues to shine across academics, wellbeing and community life.
The ADEK report offers a compelling picture of what makes BIS Abu Dhabi special: curious students, committed teachers and a welcoming environment where every young person is encouraged to grow. Inspectors noted the confidence and independence students show in the classroom, as well as the way they collaborate, think critically and approach new challenges with enthusiasm. Student behaviour, sense of responsibility and contribution to school life, from environmental initiatives to service projects, were described as exemplary.
Teaching and curriculum provision were also celebrated in the report. The school’s approach to personalised learning ensures that students of all abilities receive the support or challenge they need to thrive. With multiple pathways available, including IGCSE, the IB Diploma Programme and BTEC, students can choose routes aligned with their strengths, interests and aspirations for the future. Lessons are engaging, inclusive and well structured, helping students build confidence in their learning.
Wellbeing and safeguarding emerged as standout strengths. ADEK described the school as “exceptionally safe and inclusive,” reflecting a community where pastoral care is embedded into everyday school life. From strong tutor and House systems to specialist support for students of determination, families can be confident that their children are known, supported and cared for.
Leadership was once again rated Outstanding, with the report highlighting the school’s clear direction, strong values and positive relationships with parents. Areas for continued growth, including refining aspects of Arabic‑language provision and strengthening assessment consistency, are already part of the school’s ongoing development plans.
