Our community gathered last night for our annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony to recognise the accomplishments of our students who have been awarded a Scholarship in 2023.
Brother President Lawrence Humphrey, Scholarship Committee Chairman Mr Kenneth Li and Board of Governors Chairman Mr Roy Quek presented the scholars with their scholarship scrolls.
Lasallian scholar Adriel and foreign scholar Giac took the stage to reflect on their journey at SJI International and how their scholarships have been life-changing.
“Looking back, I see I have come so far, from studying in a small local school in Danang, Vietnam, to experiencing an international education in an amazing school in one of the best education systems in the world – Singapore. I would have never reached this far if not for the opportunities this scholarship has opened up for me,” Giac shared.
“Investing in our education provides us with a solid base upon which we can build a character and career. The generosity of this scholarship inspired me to contribute to education in any way possible,” Adriel said. “This year, one of the service learning projects I am involved in is Amala Education. Amala has developed the world’s first high school diploma programme for refugees and young people who are internally displaced.”
Parents, staff, donors and friends had a wonderful time celebrating with scholars over a sit-down dinner and enjoying musical performances from the High School String Ensemble and Ukulele Club.
Thank you to all our donors who believe in the mission of SJI International and whose philanthropy has enabled the school to continue providing an exceptional education to our students. Our Scholarship Programme would not be possible without your generosity.
