This past Friday, the International School of Beijing (ISB) came alive with vibrant colors and cultural pride during its annual International Day celebrations. The event, held on campus, brought together students, parents, faculty and staff to honor the culturally rich community (over 70+ nationalities!) of ISB.
The afternoon kicked off with a lively cultural parade, where students dressed in attire representing their home countries, showcasing the global diversity of the school. Following the parade, special guest, H.E. Arthur Williams, the Ambassador of the Embassy of Jamaica to China, gave an inspiring speech on the importance of spreading kindness and making connections, then rang the gong that officially kicked off International Day.
Attendees then had the opportunity to visit cultural booths set up by ISB families and staff from various countries and regions, offering food, sweets, and unique items from around the world. Additionally, student and parent performances featuring music, dance, and more entertained the crowd, further highlighting the global Dragon Spirit of ISB. To add to the festivities, external food vendors offered a range of international cuisines, giving everyone a taste of global flavors. Before the parade, students participated in cultural lessons in the classroom, learning about customs, languages, and traditions from different regions.
ISB’s International Day was a true celebration of the vibrant cultures that make up our community, leaving all participants with memories of cultural exchange, a sense of shared pride, and the opportunity to build strong, lifelong relationships across national, linguistic and cultural lines.
