As an IB World School, the British School of Córdoba (BSC) is deeply committed to fostering international mindedness—a core principle of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and a reflection of our school’s values-based education. Defined by the IB as “a worldview that recognizes and values the interconnectivity of people and their perspectives, embracing diversity and promoting a shared guardianship of the planet,” international mindedness is central to our mission to nurture respectful, open-minded, curious, and responsible global citizens.
Our school community, which proudly includes representation from 22 nationalities, is a daily celebration of diversity. This multicultural richness allows our students to live out the values of respect and open-mindedness, learning to appreciate different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. Language and literature studies in English, Spanish, and French play a vital role in achieving this. Through these subjects, students not only develop linguistic proficiency but also explore diverse literary traditions, histories, and ideas, fostering curiosity and deep cultural understanding.
Across the curriculum, international mindedness is cultivated through thought-provoking subjects. Students analyze global events from multiple perspectives, promoting empathy and critical thinking or examine international challenges like sustainability and migration, encouraging responsibility and awareness of their role as global citizens. Extra curricular opportunities allow students to simulate international arenas such as Model United Nations or European Youth Parliament.
By living our values through international mindedness, the British School of Córdoba prepares students to embrace diversity, take responsibility for the world around them, and become compassionate leaders in an interconnected global community.
