We are delighted to announce that four students from The English School of Kyrenia (ESK) have received prestigious awards from Cambridge Assessment International Education to acknowledge their outstanding performance in the June 2021 Cambridge examinations. The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award celebrates the success of learners taking Cambridge International examinations in over 40 countries around the world.
This year, ESK students have received the following awards:
Top in the World
Year 12 Student, Sanem Kutlu, has been awarded Top in the World for First Language Turkish (Cambridge IGCSE).
Top in Cyprus
Class of 2021 graduate, Can Rustem Ertugrul has achieved Top in Cyprus for Computer Science, for his Cambridge International A-Level exam. Can in currently studying Computer Science at University College London (UCL), ranked 14th in the Times Higher Education.
High Achievement in Cyprus
The High Achievement awarded recognises students who have achieved top results in IGCSE subjects, which are not so widely taken in their country, and therefore do not categorise at ‘Top in Country’.
Year 12 student, Veronika Tashkulova, has been awarded Highest achievement in First Language Russian, while Irmak Gurtuna has been awarded Top in Cyprus for Drama.
Our Principal, Mr MacDonald shared his congratulations. He said:
“The prestige associated with the Cambridge International Examination Board, and the stringency of demands upon students usually means that a great school might be fortunate to have one student every several years become honoured with an award. To have so many, in a diverse range of subjects, is truly exceptional – congratulations to each and every student and their teachers!”
These results are a true reflection of the exceptional talent at The English School of Kyrenia, not only amongst students, but also within the teaching profession. Learners from ESK have a bright future ahead of them, and we hope this global recognition inspires the future generations of ESK students to be the very best.
