“Disconnect” Campaign: One Week Without Phones… and Countless Real Connections

What happens when students and teachers put their phones away for an entire week? Something truly magical.

The “Disconnect” campaign, created and led by our own students at the British School of Córdoba, proposed a challenge as simple as it was powerful: place all mobile phones in a box for one full week… and rediscover the value of shared time, screen-free conversations, and genuine human connection.

The outcome has been overwhelmingly positive. We’ve seen stronger bonds between classmates, greater focus in the classroom, and breaks filled with games, conversations, and laughter. Our teachers also joined the initiative, showing that when leadership starts from the top, the impact runs even deeper.

This campaign has not only sparked reflection—it has also opened up an honest dialogue about the use (and overuse) of technology in our daily lives. A brave initiative born within our classrooms that has echoed throughout the entire school community.
