The SJI International community gathered on 1st February for the annual Scholarship Awards Dinner, an evening dedicated to recognising and celebrating the remarkable achievements of 2024 Scholars.
Brother President Lawrence Humphrey, joined by Scholarship Committee Chairman Mr Kenneth Li and Board of Governors Deputy Vice Chairman Mr Gabriel Lim, took centre stage to present the 24 scholars with their well-deserved scholarship scrolls.
One of the standout moments of the event featured heartfelt reflections from Academic Scholar Raghu and Local Scholar Ana, shedding light on their transformative journeys at SJI International.
Raghu eloquently expressed the profound impact of being granted the honour of being an SJI International scholar, emphasizing how it has shaped his approach to learning.
“I constantly remind myself that out of over a hundred worthy candidates, I was chosen. And I wasn’t chosen so I could just put 50% of my effort into completing a task. I was chosen because I am someone who approaches challenges with unwavering dedication and confidence, giving my all to every endeavour,” he shared.
Ana shared her discovery of courage at SJI International, encouraging others to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new opportunities.
“The genuine support for student-led initiatives has allowed me to initiate and lead new projects. I founded a service group to support the children of foreign domestic workers, a cause that has allowed me to give back to the community in a meaningful way,” she said.
The evening was not just a celebration of academic excellence but also a testament to the supportive community surrounding SJI International. Parents, staff, donors, and friends reveled in a delightful sit-down dinner while enjoying musical performances by High School students Edward, Sophie, Aiden, and Naomi.
The event underscored the vital role of donors whose generosity enables SJI International to provide an exceptional education through the Scholarship Programme. The school extends heartfelt gratitude to all donors, without whom the Scholarship Programme would not be possible.
The Scholarship Programme offers five distinct scholarships: Academic, Lasallian, Local, Foreign, and the SJI International-Lion City Sailors Elite Development. As of 5th February, applications for these scholarships are now open through the school website.
