On Nov 7, the annual “Active for Action” fun run event at our school has once again united our community in a day filled with fun, fitness, and fundraising.
This year, the introduction of a new house system brought a fresh dynamic to our event. As part of this exciting change, students proudly wore new house T-shirts, showcasing their house spirit, each representing a different color dragon house.
Students from KG to G12 are encouraged to set personal lap goals for running or walking. They can also work towards class goals, aiming to achieve laps as a group or within their grade level. We are incredibly proud that the Pre-Kindergarten and Early Years Center students joined the Run this year on a whim. They initially came to cheer on their friends in Kindergarten but decided to participate as well, running or walking alongside the older students.
The event is more than just a sports activity; it is a purposeful physical endeavor aimed at supporting our Service Committee and its service groups. The funds raised at the Active for Action Fun Run will benefit various important causes such as life-changing heart surgeries for children, direct service at the Suzhou animal shelter, service projects in Boracay with First Love, clean-up activities around Suzhou, and treatment and education for children
This school year, the SSIS service committee has already made impactful donations:
-
-
- 30,000 RMB to First Love Boracay for the computer lab
- 60,000 RMB to Heart to Heart Shanghai for heart surgery for 3 children
- 29,000 RMB to Bo’Ai School Suzhou to support children with physical and mental disabilities
-
All thanks to the generosity of the SSIS community, which proves time and again that it is compassionate, principled, and inspiring.
