A life changing opportunity – Bavarian International School offers new scholarship

Bavarian International School (BIS) in Munich, Germany is offering a lifechanging opportunity for a young mind: a new scholarship for one student from Grade 9-12 starting at school year 2026-27.

Bavarian International School (BIS) is proud and grateful to be the only international school in Germany offering its own scholarship programme. While the recipient of the first BELIEVE scholarship graduated very successfully with the IB Diploma in 2025, we are currently providing our fourth scholarship: the Dr. Chrissie Sorenson Scholarship for Grades 9-12 starting in the 2026-27 school year.

The new scholarship, handled by our fundraising association Friends of BIS e.V. and named after our current Head of School, is funded entirely by a member of the BIS community and is available to German or international children who are permanent residents in Germany and whose families can prove financial need. The student should demonstrate a strong academic record, extraordinary commitment and ambition, a high level of English, an excellent personal impression and experience in voluntary work. Students already enrolled at BIS are not eligible to participate in the BIS scholarship programme.

The words of our first awardee, Isabella B., underscore the value and significance of a BIS scholarship: “The BIS scholarship was really a life changer for me, it gave me confidence and allowed me to pursue my dream of working on something I love. My time at Bavarian International School pushed me academically, allowed me to develop holistically, and helped me build international connections with leaders and future-forward mindsets. And finally, the IB Diploma opens all doors to universities and my future pathways. Thank you very much for this great opportunity to DEUTSCHE FINANCE GROUP and BIS!”

If you would like your child to follow in Isabella’s footsteps and experience a similar life-changing opportunity, please follow this process and note the application deadline of 16 March 2026. First, please send an email to scholarship@bis-school.com stating the applicant’s full name, age and current grade level, and tell us which country you come from and where you currently live. Please note that you have to have a permanent residence in Germany! In the email, please also tell us in a few sentences why the applicant deserves this scholarship. If eligible for the scholarship, we’ll send you the relevant forms for the application process as a second step (e.g. financial questionnaire, motivation letter, full application form). Finally, the best candidates are invited to personal interviews on site at the BIS Haimhausen Campus, and a scholarship committee decides on the final awarding of the Dr. Chrissie Sorenson scholarship.
