Many Cultures, One Heart: An International Day to Remember!

What an incredible International Day we celebrated! A day of culture and giving.

On April 17th, our school buzzed with the spirit of community and charity as students and staff united to organize an amazing fundraising day for the Children’s Polyclinic at Lefkosa Emergency Hospital. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter, joy, and a collective dedication to making a positive impact.

The day began with beautiful performances that showcased the diverse talents within our community. We were treated to a dazzling traditional Kazakh dance, followed by a touching duet of Greek and Turkish folk songs delivered by one of our gifted students alongside a devoted teacher. The addition of Russian singing provided a lovely cultural touch with everyone rushing to the stage to join in, and the performance of “Champs Élysées” transported us to France, reminding us of the beauty of global connections we share at ESK.

Stalls were arranged in the plaza featuring food from across the globe. It was a genuine culinary adventure that transported us to different parts of the world, thanks to the amazing international dishes provided by our parents, students and staff. Who could forget the taste of authentic Japanese Matcha, the mouthwatering Chinese dumplings, and the delightfully fruity British desserts? Not to mention, the year 13’s Turkish Coffee fortune-telling, which added a hint of mystique to the day, blending tradition with fun. And, hats off to our amazing Year 10 business students for their fantastic entrepreneurial showcase! Each stall showcased the rich tapestry of cultures we proudly embrace in our community.

Of course, the fun didn’t end with food! The spirit of camaraderie shone brightly with energetic games that had everyone cheering. An exhilarating game of teachers versus. students musical chairs and a colorful Mexican piñata brought bursts of excitement. The plaza was truly alive with smiles, cheers, and a shared sense of community. Together, we’re not just celebrating cultures—we’re making a meaningful difference in the lives of children in need.

Reflecting on this joyful day, we are reminded of our school values and mission, which aim to inspire students to become compassionate global citizens. Both individually and collectively, as members of the ESK family  we carry forward this spirit of community, generosity, and caring for one another. We have a responsibility to foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for everyone.

Here’s to more events that bring us together and make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need!
