ESK Lions have once again excelled in various inter-school tournaments throughout the island, including fencing, badminton, Swimming, table-tennis and football.
This month, the highly awaited Inter-school Championships were held in Cyprus, organized by the Ministry of Education! These yearly events, drawing participants from schools throughout the region, provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and compete for top honours in the country.
Fencing
The ESK Lions celebrated a remarkable victory at the Ministry of Education Fencing tournament! Among the standout performers, our Year 9 fencing enthusiasts played like true champions, achieving first place and third place in their age category, marking two impressive wins for ESK.
In the Middle-school girls category and Primary School category, Year 10 student and year 5 students also showcased their talent by finishing in third place in their respective divisions. Their exceptional performances have qualified them to compete at the Türkiye Championships next month!
Table-Tennis
ESK Lions excelled in Table Tennis this month too. The atmosphere was certainly electric, filled with the cheers of supporters and the sound of paddles striking the ball. The KS3 boys demonstrated outstanding skill and determination, earning a commendable second place, while the KS3 girls, showcased remarkable tenacity and skill, finishing a close yet notable fourth place, overall in the tournament.
Swimming
In Swimming, the ESK Lions made waves with their phenomenal performances in both the Primary and Secondary school divisions! ESK proudly brought home two gold medals, 4 silvers and three bronze medals.
- Gold: 400m Freestyle & 200m Freestyle
- Silver: 200m Medley, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke &50m Backstroke
- Bronze: 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke
Football
In Football, the ESK Lions boys and girls teams took to the field for a friendly match against the School teams from Limassol.
The athletes demonstrated not only their technical skills but also a remarkable spirit of collaboration and sportsmanship, making every moment of the game thrilling to watch. Each goal was greeted with enthusiastic applause, while every save sparked cheers from the crowd. As the matches progressed, it was evident that all four teams were giving their all, showcasing their hard work and commitment during practice sessions leading up to this event.
ESK Lions have significantly set themselves apart this month through outstanding displays of athletic skill and sportsmanship! We not only celebrate the trophies, but also the countless hours of practice, strategy sessions with our dedicated coaches, and the resilience they showed in face of challenges. Each player displayed exceptional teamwork and the true spirit of camaraderie that defines our Lions. Roaring loud and proud for our ESK Lions!
