The Power of the LAS Global Family

At Leysin American School, our Global Family spans generations, continents, and cultures. Whether you’re an alumni, a parent of a current student, or a former faculty member, you’re always a part of our family. Recently, our Global Family has been reunited on campus in a number of events, including Family Winter Week and the Alumni Ski Weekend.

Family Winter Week is an annual event where families are welcomed onto campus to experience campus life, meet with faculty, and explore our Alpine landscape. The week began with a warm Welcome Reception in the BEC Grande Salle, where families met our Leadership, Academic, and Residential Life teams before enjoying dinner together.

Throughout the week, families attended insightful sessions on academic programs, university advising, and our new changemakers entrepreneurship curriculum in partnership with Babson College. They also explored our Student Life program, discovering leadership, athletics, wellness, and travel opportunities. Parents had the opportunity to meet with their children’s teachers and learn more about their academic progress at school.

An Art Exhibition and Music Concert during the week showcased our students’ amazing talents. Special evening gatherings, including the Family Winter Soirée and the Ott Family Reception, allowed parents to network, creating connections in a more casual setting. The week concluded with an Au Revoir Coffee morning, where families reflected on their experiences and said their goodbyes. Family Winter Week is a fantastic celebration of the LAS community, strengthening the bonds between students, parents, and faculty.

As Family Winter Week ended, alumni from around the world returned to Leysin for the Alumni Ski Weekend, reconnecting with old friends and making new memories. The weekend began with a welcome apéro, where alumni shared stories and rekindled lifelong friendships. On Saturday, alumni gathered at Horizonte Café before hitting the slopes, skiing together on the trails they once explored as students. The highlight of the weekend was the torchlight descent, where alumni illuminated the mountainside under the stars before enjoying a dinner at La Fromagerie.

On Sunday morning, the weekend ended with a farewell breakfast at the Croissanterie. Alumni reflected on the highlights of the weekend and said they can’t wait to return for future reunions. It was the perfect way to conclude a weekend filled with skiing and reconnecting with the Global Family!

Whether through Family Winter Week or the Alumni Ski Weekend, LAS continues to nurture a lifelong sense of family amongst our parents, alumni, and students. These events remind us that the LAS Global Family is a community built on shared experiences and deep connections. No matter where life takes them, our students, parents, and alumni will always be welcomed back to campus!
