U-Tech Preparatory Academy, established by Jenison Innovation Academy, offers over 15 years of accredited, skillful online course delivery to students worldwide who seek quality, diploma, or individual course options in English. U-Tech Prep brings the home, school, and world together in an engaging, close-knit community. We work directly with every family and know each family’s needs and why they chose us. We value putting our students first by offering individualized pathways, ongoing mentoring support, academic excellence, and innovation. Students have weekly, live academic advising and opportunities for live group and one-on-one sessions facilitated by their content teachers and their academic advisor.

All full-time U-Tech students receive individual academic advising to customize their weekly schedules and develop long-term goals. Middle school students work at their own pace in a mastery-based curriculum accentuating the student-parent-teacher partnership. High school students engage in NCAA-approved coursework that includes Advanced Placement and a university dual-enrollment option. Students in grades 8-12 experience increased agency and collaboration in the Scholars Academy, where they design interest-based, interdisciplinary projects meant to enhance critical thinking and reasoning, problem-solving, and communication and interpersonal skills important for their future education and career.

U-Tech Prep is an international online school with a broad selection of academic core and elective courses, offering opportunities for live, interactive learning alongside teachers and peers. To provide maximum flexibility, all live sessions are recorded and can be viewed at the students' convenience, and most of the coursework is delivered asynchronously, allowing students to work at their own pace.

Student Support

Students have weekly virtual meetings with their academic advisor. U-Tech Prep staff members are hired internally and personally know and directly interact with every student and family. Content teachers offer live sessions, which are also available as recordings, regular virtual drop-in hours, and provide individualized feedback. There is also a student meet-up group and a parent meet-up group.

Community

U-Tech Prep students currently represent North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia - and counting! They connect with each other through discussion boards, the student meet-up group, and share and learn information about each other in the monthly school newsletter. Students are able to establish clubs based on their personal interests. One key feature of U-Tech Prep is the movement between online learning and U.S. student exchange opportunities. U-Tech Prep collaborates with Jenison Innovation Academy to provide access to one-year or one-semester F-1 visa student exchanges in beautiful and safe Western Michigan.
