Overview
5 international schools. One philosophy. Forty years of proof.
ELC International Schools Bangkok has specialised in the formative years since 1986 — the years neuroscience now confirms are the most important for brain development. We were not following a trend. The trend caught up with us.
We are intentionally small: four campuses in Bangkok’s Thonglor neighbourhood and one in Nonthaburi. Classes of 12 to 14. Educators who observe before they teach. Environments designed as a third teacher. Five things work together as a system here: small class sizes, project-based learning, rich ateliers, a documentation culture that makes learning visible, and forty years of exclusive focus on the early years. Not one of them is accidental.
Learning is inquiry-led and project-based. Children explore big ideas through questions and investigation. Extended projects connect disciplines and build real-world problem-solving skills. The curriculum starts in the moment before the answer.
At Year 6, our children ask questions that make adults stop and think. They are comfortable not knowing yet, because they have learned that not knowing is where the thinking begins. They leave curious, grounded, and ready for whatever comes next — for NIST, ISB, Bangkok Patana, Shrewsbury, and top schools worldwide. Almost without exception, they are offered their first choice.
Inclusion at ELC is not a programme. It is how we work. Our Student Services and Wellbeing team brings together learning support, EAL, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and play and art therapy as one integrated team. Every child, whatever their needs, is designed for here.
Most schools prepare children for pathways that look increasingly like the past. We prepare children for who they are becoming.
- The City School (Thonglor) welcomes children aged 3 to 11. A Reggio-inspired international primary where curiosity is the curriculum and children leave knowing how to think, not just what to think.
- The Purple Elephant (Phrom Phong, Thonglor 49, Thonglor 55) serves children from 18 months to 3 years. Boutique toddler campuses where the earliest years are treated with the seriousness they deserve.
- The Purple Elephant Samakee (Nonthaburi) extends from 18 months to 5 years, the full early years journey on one campus, designed around deep knowing and unhurried growth.

Academics
ELC follows the Ontario Curriculum, complemented by our inquiry-led pedagogical approach known as the ‘Project’—an in-depth exploration of key concepts in contemporary topics that connect across all curricular disciplines. Purposefully designed ateliers throughout the school give children the chance to engage with and investigate these concepts in creative and meaningful ways.
If you happen to visit during one of those magical moments when a child’s cognitive growth takes a leap forward, you might witness Math pirouetting to Mozart, Art whirling with Astronomy, Physics mingling with Proust, and a room full of children from diverse cultural backgrounds engaging with Robotics as though they were the most fascinating toys in the world.
ELC’s approach nurtures each child’s growth, encouraging innovative thinking, creativity, and collaborative research skills—building a strong foundation for success in high school programmes worldwide.

Extra curricular
At ELC International Schools Bangkok, students are encouraged to explore their passions and talents beyond the classroom through a wide variety of extracurricular activities. The programmes are designed to inspire creativity, build confidence, and promote both physical and intellectual development.
Children can enjoy dynamic sports and movement activities such as Brazilian soccer, basketball, dance, and yoga, helping them to stay active while developing teamwork and discipline. For young innovators, opportunities in ERC Robotics, eDesign and 3D printing, and LEGO-based projects spark curiosity and problem-solving skills.
The arts are celebrated through instrumental music lessons in piano, drums, cello, violin, harp, guitar, ukulele, and woodwinds, allowing each child to discover the joy of musical expression.
Students can also expand their horizons by learning additional world languages, including Danish, Dutch, German, Hebrew, French, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Swedish, and Thai, fostering multicultural understanding and communication.
Beyond structured programmes, children benefit from ample time to play and explore in the school’s inviting outdoor spaces, featuring a basketball pitch, soccer field, climbing wall, life-size chess, library, playground equipment, slides, sand areas, swings, and more.
Together, these extracurricular opportunities create a rich, balanced experience where every child can thrive, explore new interests, and grow in confidence.
