International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Celebrating the Future of Science!

Every year on February 11th, the world celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science — a day dedicated to recognizing the important role that girls and women play in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This special day reminds us that science is for everyone and encourages more girls to explore their curiosity and follow their passions. At Smiling International School, we are proud to support a culture of learning, equality, and empowerment, helping our students realize that the future of science is bright—and it includes them all.

Encouraging Curiosity and Learning

Science is everywhere—from the experiments in our classrooms to the technology we use every day. At our school, we encourage all students to explore, question, and innovate. Through hands-on science projects, coding workshops, and interactive experiments, we show that science is exciting, fun, and full of possibilities for everybody.

In fact, 14% of our students, both boys and girls, choose Biology after high school, reflecting their growing interest in understanding life, nature, and the world around them. We always try to give equal opportunities and recognition, to help them shape the world we live in today.

Women Scientists Who Inspire Us

This day is not only about celebrating achievements but also about inspiring the next generation. Role models like Marie Curie taught us the power of discovery through her pioneering work in radioactivity, and Rosalind Franklin played a crucial role in understanding the structure of DNA. Their courage and curiosity inspire our female students to dream big and never give up.

Fostering Future Innovators and Inspire

Schools play an important role in encouraging girls to develop confidence in subjects like math, physics, biology, and computer science. By supporting equal opportunities in classrooms, science clubs, and competitions, we can help create an environment where everyone feels capable of succeeding.

Girls’ International Day in Science is a celebration of talent, creativity, and potential. It is a reminder that the next great scientist, engineer, or inventor could be sitting in any classroom today. With support, encouragement, and equal opportunities, girls everywhere can continue to change the world through science.
