There are 4 academic programmes offered:
- The Bilingual Primary School (English/German, Grades 1-6)
- The Bilingual Secondary School (English/German, Grades 7-9)
- The International School (English, Grades 6-12)
- Swiss Gymnasium (German or German/English, Grades 7-12)
A central location in a natural setting
Located in the heart of Switzerland, our campus is nestled in a peaceful natural setting, providing the perfect atmosphere for our students to focus and flourish. At the same time, we are well connected: just 15 minutes from Zug city and only 1 hour from Zurich airport. Our campus is more than a school, it can be your mountain home. In a land where other international schools also enjoy the peace and beauty of Switzerland, our location stands out.
Educational Philosophy
At Institut Montana Switzerland, we believe every child has talent. Our mission is to nurture this talent. Combined with small class sizes, high-quality teaching from dedicated teachers, this creates an optimal environment for students to grow and discover their talents. Our graduates leave as confident, well-rounded individuals, ready to make a meaningful impact on the world. This is the Montana Learning Experience.
Individual Support & College Counselling
Our students take advantage of small class groups (max. 15 students), teacher supervised study times, personal academic advisory system, one-to-one College Counselling and round-the-clock support in a family-like atmosphere.
IB Diploma Programme
The International School of Institut Montana Switzerland offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma in grades 11 and 12. The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is offered to our students in grades 9 and 10. Non-native English speaking students are required to take special courses in English as an Additional Language until their level is deemed sufficient for them to successfully complete a college preparatory programme of studies.
Co-curricular Activites
Beyond academics, student well-being is a top priority. We offer a holistic education through more than 50 co-curricular activities, where students are encouraged to explore their passions, whether in arts and music, engineering and technology, or sports such as biking, sledging, and hiking. The Student Council, the Entrepreneurship and MUN programme and various other programmes empower the students to actively contribute to the school life and gain important experiences for their later life.

Boarding
Boarding options
Boarders (from aged 10) make up approximately one-third to a half of the student population. There are three boarding houses to give separate accommodation for girls and boys, organised by age groups on separate floors, with most students sharing a double room (there are some singles at extra cost). Rooms are cozy and modern, compact but comfortable and equipped with all appropriate amenities. Shared bathrooms (with private lockable cabins) along each corridor, as well as a nurse station with rooms nearby for children to stay in if unwell. Each floor has a small kitchen for student use and access to snacks etc (under the watchful eyes of house parents who encourage healthy eating habits), several different common areas with comfortable chairs and couches for relaxation, movie watching and games, as well as a study area.
Extra-curricular Activities
The learning that leads to diplomas or Maturas is not everything. It is best supplemented by learning activities that are inspiring in their own right.
Students develop motivation to learn for the sake of learning, and that stays with them for life. So, co-curricular activities are more than an add-on or entertainment; they are central to the life of the school. Along the way, our young people often find talents they never imagined they had. They have the opportunities to learn and grow into confident, accomplished adults, adopting a healthy approach to life and developing skills for the future.
Being active is crucial for physical and mental health. We want our students to find what motivates them to stay fit and energised. With various options that change regularly, there’s something for everyone.<br /
Facilities
Fitness/gym room, tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball court, football court, mountain biking trekking. More than 25 tools/facilities with more than 10 rooms/studios. Students can have water activities at the lake or golf course nearby.
