Overview

Branksome Hall is a school where remarkable things happen every day! We welcome you to learn about our community, our programs, our facilities and the many opportunities that inspire our students.

Each day, Branksome Hall challenges and inspires girls to love learning and to shape a better world. Established in 1903, Branksome Hall is Toronto’s all-girls, all-years International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Located on a picturesque 13-acre campus, Branksome Hall offers the unique combination of a wellness mindset, outstanding academics and global engagement opportunities. Our new state-of-the-art Athletics and Wellness Centre features a gymnasium, a fitness centre, a dryland rowing centre, two saltwater pools, yoga and dance studios, and a dining hall with outdoor terraces. Through our exciting exchange program, students can visit several countries and immerse themselves in new cultures.

Our graduates are welcomed by the leading universities in Canada and around the world, most with scholarships. Discover Branksome Hall’s remarkable programs and campus.

Academics

Every student at Branksome Hall, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, benefits from the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. It emphasizes inquiry-based learning complemented by critical, creative and collaborative thinking. The IB curriculum also provides for regular assessments and feedback against standardized criteria, and has been shown to improve students’ performance while providing unmatched preparation for university studies.

IB Program students study English, Mathematics, Sciences, Technology, Physical Education, the Arts (Drama, Music, Visual Art), humanities and a foreign language every year. Grounded in the liberal arts tradition, our students learn from an early age how to be thoughtful learners who seek knowledge, think critically, and communicate their idea and opinions. They are comfortable with differing points of view and understand that our world is a complex, changing place that needs caring, compassionate and principled leaders. They develop habits that last through a lifetime and take action to make the world a better place.

Extra-curricular

We believe creativity, physical activity and service towards others are all part of fun and healthy living. For the budding star (or those who think they might be) there are countless ways get involved. Try Dance, Drama, Music or Film. Go behind the scenes and play a technical role. Or there’s Music (Instrumental and Vocal), and Visual Arts including drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking.

We also love Athletics for their ability to help develop and maintain physical and mental health. So we provide our students with as many options as possible to be active, through intramural and competitive teams. They can join – are you ready? – soccer, basketball, rowing, volleyball, badminton, softball, track and field, cross-country running, field hockey, swimming, hockey, alpine skiing, golf, tennis and ultimate frisbee. Then there are the individual fitness activities. All girls are encouraged to participate, every year.

Part of Branksome Hall’s mission is to “shape a better world” and students live this through giving service to others. They enthusiastically commit to caring for others, challenging themselves to support a person or a community. Opportunities are available at school, in the community with local organizations and internationally through our global service projects.

Boarding

Girls from around the world love to live and learn at Branksome Hall’s downtown Toronto campus, located on 13-acres along a wooded ravine. Here, in heritage homes and new buildings linked by state-of-the-art technology, girls thrive as they study the prestigious International Baccalaureate program. Our school welcomes over 50 students from Canada and around the world into Boarding as they embark on a remarkable journey to discover who they are, develop their interests and passions, and build life-long friendships.

Facilities include:
-Single, double and triple student bedrooms assigned by grade. Student personality, nationality and interests are all considered in the room assignment process.
-A comfortable student common room with television, video games, puzzles and board games
-Private and common washrooms
-Laundry facilities and laundry soap free-of-charge
-A fully-stocked snack kitchen

There are many amenities on-campus for students to keep active any time of the year.
