This year has been an exciting one for volleyball at Leysin American School in Switzerland, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams showing tremendous growth, teamwork, and dedication. Our athletes have spent the season sharpening their skills, strengthening team bonds, and representing LAS with pride at every match. The boys’ team, in particular, achieved an extraordinary season—capturing the SGIS, ISSC, MLS, and ADISR championships and going undefeated. Their success was built on a strong team culture that blended discipline with camaraderie. As their coach shared, van trips, shared meals, and laughter-filled moments played just as important a role as drills and strategy, helping the group develop trust, resilience, and a sense of unity that carried them to the top.

Players described the powerful impact volleyball has had on their personal growth, turning difficult early experiences into a journey of confidence, skill development, and deep friendships. It was noted that this year’s team was the most connected he has ever played with, crediting their motivation, support for one another, and willingness to practice even outside official sessions.

The girls’ volleyball team also made impressive strides this season. With many new players and a wide range of experience levels, one of their greatest challenges was building cohesion and developing a shared rhythm. Under the guidance of their coach, they came together quickly—each player learning her role and growing into a confident, supportive teammate. The team delivered some of their best performances during the MLS finals qualifications, a highlighted of the season. As a first-year coach, he emphasized how much he learned alongside the girls and expressed excitement for continuing their development into next year, with hopes for off-season practices and potential friendly matches to keep their momentum strong.

To support and elevate all this progress, Leysin American School recently welcomed a special guest: Australian national volleyball player Phoebe Bell. Phoebe spent time with both teams, offering targeted training sessions, technical insights, and inspiring conversations. Her work with the girls’ team was especially impactful as they prepared for the SGIS Tournament—helping them refine rotations, strengthen communication, and step into competition with confidence. Phoebe also led a session with the boys’ team and shared her insights on teamwork, personal growth, and the importance of consistency. Her visit added an energizing boost to a season already full of growth and achievement.

As our volleyball teams wrap up a memorable year, we celebrate not only their victories, but also the determination, spirit, and connection that define athletics at Leysin American School. Whether winning championships or building the foundations of future success, our athletes continue to make LAS proud—proving that with trust, teamwork, and heart, great things are always within reach.
