ISHCMC Celebrates a 30 Year Legacy of Excellence with Grand Gala Event

Ho Chi Minh City, December 2, 2023 — International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) proudly announces its 30th Anniversary Gala Event, a momentous occasion commemorating three decades of educational excellence, innovation, and community impact. The gala took place on December 2nd 2023 at The Reverie Saigon, bringing together current staff, esteemed alumni, and friends of the school for a night of celebration and reflection.

Founded in 1993, the first International school in Ho Chi Minh City, ISHCMC has been a beacon of education in Vietnam, shaping the minds and futures of generations of students and earning the distinction of being the First IB World School in Ho Chi Minh City accredited to offer all three IB programmes. Previously named the “International Grammar School” and with a founding class of roughly 20 students, the school was established to provide high quality education to children of expatriate families in Vietnam. From its humble beginnings, the school has grown to have a cohort of 1500 students and a leading international institution known for its commitment to academic excellence, a diverse and inclusive community, and a passion for fostering global citizenship and individual identities..

Over the past 30 years, ISHCMC has continually embraced innovation in education, providing students with a world-class learning experience. The school has consistently adapted to the evolving needs of its students, incorporating technology and global perspectives into its curriculum.

Reflecting on the school’s journey, Kim Green, Principal & Head of School of ISHCMC, shared, “As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we look back with pride at our legacy and the incredible milestones we’ve achieved as a school. ISHCMC has always been at the forefront of education, and our commitment to nurturing wellbeing and well-rounded individuals has never wavered. This gala isa celebration of our past and also a testament to our continued dedication to excellence in education.”

With a reputation for giving back, ISHCMC champions holistic education that fosters responsible global citizenship and community service within Vietnam. Therefore the gala is a celebration of three decades of educational excellence and also an opportunity to give back to the community. The event included an exciting charity raffle and auction, with all funds raised being donated to ISHCMC’s charity partner, Saigonchildren. The contributions will support disadvantaged children, providing them with access to education and a chance for a brighter future. This follows past fundraising efforts such as ISHCMC’s Sustainable Festive Bazaar in 2022, where $5,000 USD was raised for Saigonchildren “Build a School” program.

Alumni from ISHCMC, who have embarked on successful journeys, also expressed their excitement. Hippolyte Genet, a distinguished alumna, remarked, “ISHCMC provided me with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue my dreams. The sense of community and support I experienced at the school has left a lasting impact on my life, and I am honored to celebrate this milestone with fellow alumni and the current ISHCMC community.”

The 30th Anniversary Gala featured a night of entertainment, heartfelt speeches, and a chance for the ISHCMC community to come together in a spirit of unity and celebration. The event showcased the school’s commitment to its core values and its vision for the future.

The ISHCMC 30th Anniversary Gala served as a testament to the school’s enduring legacy and its unwavering dedication to providing an exceptional education for generations to come.
